Knit Purl Repeats 07: Seed stitch and Seed stitch Zigzag

The Knit Purl Repeats 07 combines the classic Seed stitch with the Seed stitch zigzag.

The Seed stitch is a basic stitch that produces a textured surface reminiscent of seeds, achieved by alternating knit and purl stitches.

The Seed stitch zigzag is a variation of the Seed stitch, where the seed stitch pattern is arranged in a zigzag formation, adding a sense of movement to the knitted fabric.

Worked in the round

Cast on a multiple of 10 stitches plus 1, like 31, 41, and so on.

Start by working the Seed stitch pattern until you achieve your desired length. Once you are satisfied with the base, seamlessly transition to the Seed stitch zigzag pattern. You are encouraged to alternate between these two patterns as frequently as you wish, allowing your creativity to take the lead.

Part 1: Seed stitch pattern

Row 1 (Right side): *Knit 1, purl 1; work from * to last stitch, knit 1
Row 2 (Wrong side): *Knit 1, purl 1; work from * to last stitch, knit 1

Repeat rows 1–2.

Part 2: Seed stitch zigzag pattern

Row 1 (Right side): *(Knit 1, purl 1) × 3, knit 4; work from * to last stitch, knit 1
Row 2 (Wrong side): *Purl 4, (knit 1, purl 1) × 3; work from * to last stitch, purl 1
Row 3: *Knit 3, (purl 1, knit 1) × 2, purl 1, knit 2; work from * to last stitch, knit 1
Row 4: *Purl 2, (knit 1, purl 1) × 2, knit 1, purl 3; work from * to last stitch, purl 1
Row 5: *Knit 5, (purl 1, knit 1) × 2, purl 1; work from * to last stitch, knit 1
Row 6: *Purl 2, (knit 1, purl 1) × 2, knit 1, purl 3; work from * to last stitch, purl 1
Row 7: *Knit 3, (purl 1, knit 1) × 2, purl 1, knit 2; work from * to last stitch, knit 1
Row 8: *Purl 4, (knit 1, purl 1) × 3; work from * to last stitch, purl 1
