The Lifted Increase method is also known as a Raised Increase. This method does not create holes and is created by picking up a loop from the stitch in the row below.
There are 4 types of Lifted Increases:
๐ Left lifted increase (lli) |
๐ Right lifted increase (rli) |
๐ Left lifted increase purlwise (lli-p) |
๐ Right lifted increase purlwise (rli-p) |
This increase slants to the left. It’s counterpart is
Rli- Right lifted increase.
To work the Lli.
Insert the tip of the left needle into the back of the stitch that is 2 stitches below the stitch on the right needle and pull it onto the left needle. Insert the right needle into the back of that loop on the left needle. Wrap the yarn around the needle and pull a new stitch through the loop.
This increase slants to the right. It’s counterpart is
Lli- Light lifted increase.
To work the Rli: Insert the tip of the right needle into the front of the stitch below the stitch on the left needle and pull it onto the right needle. Wrap the yarn around the right needle and pull a new stitch through that loop. Then knit stitch on the left needle.
This increase slants to the left. It’s counterpart is
Rlip- Right lifted increase purlwise.
How to work LLIp: With the working yarn in front, insert the tip of the left needle into the purl bump stitch 2 rows below on the right needle from bottom to top. Lift that loop onto the left needle. Insert the right needle purlwise into that loop and wrap the working yarn counter clockwise around the right needle. Pull a new stitch through that loop.
