This diamond dishcloth pattern is not terribly difficult, but takes about half the time to knit because you slip most of the stitches.
Difficulty level: MediumMaterials: Katia panama yarn, size 3mm needles.
Techniques used:
Knit: K
Purl: P
Slip stitch as if to purl: Sl
With yarn in front: Wyif
With yarn in back: Wyib
Knit 1 under loose strand: K1 uls.
How to: K1 uls
- Insert right needle under loose strand and then into next stitch knitwise, from front to back. Knit stitch normally then bring new stitch out from under the strand.
Directions: With color A, cast on 57 stitches (multiple of 6 sts + 1 + edge sts)
With color A, knit 5 rows of your choice of border
Row 1 (Wrong side): With color B, sl 4 wyif * p1, sl 5 wyib; rep from * to last 5 sts, p1, sl4 wyif.
Row 2 (Right side): With color A, knit.
Row 3: With color A, k4, purl, end k4.
Row 4: With color B, sl 7 wyib, * k1 uls; sl 5 wyib; rep from * to last 8 sts, k1 uls, sl 7 wyib.
Row 5: With Color B, sl 4 wyif, sl 3 wyib, *p1, sl 5 wyib; rep from * to last 8 sts, p1, sl 3 wyib, sl 4 wyif.
Row 6: With color A, knit.
Row 7: With color A, k4, purl, end k4.
Row 8: With color B, sl 4 wyib, *k1 uls, sl 5 wyib; rep from * to last 5 sts, k1 uls, sl 4 wyib.
Repeat these 8 rows until desired length is reached, ending with a Row 7.
Next row (right side): with color A, k4, *k1 uls, k5; rep from * to last 5 sts, k1 uls, k4.
With color A, knit 3 rows of border.
Bind off.
